Hosting
the European Games
Hosting the European Games is a unique opportunity for cities and regions to demonstrate a leading position as a European sports city. Key legacies of infrastructure development, sports development, and tourism and trade development are encouraged in a holistic and sustainable manner.

In Azerbaijan, the hosting of the first European Games left a tangible legacy of sports development. The event served as the catalyst for building key facilities including the new national stadium.
Children and young people have been encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles thanks to programmes organised around the Games with key NGOs, including UNICEF.
The 2nd European Games, held in Minsk 2019, was a great success. Poland, with Krakow and region of Malopolska, will host the event in 2023.

Cities and regions interested in bidding to host future editions of the European Games should contact their National Olympic Committee for further details of the bid process.
The Bid document for the 3rd edition of the European Games in 2023 was approved by the European Olympic Committees Executive Committee on 20th September in Stockholm. Cities and regions that are interested in hosting the 2023 edition of the European Games need to submit their bid within 28th February 2019.
