Great excitement awaits fans who will follow the rivalry of beach handball players during the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023. We know the detailed layout of the group stage matches.

Beach handball is making its debut at the European Games and has a chance to win the hearts of fans due to its spectacularity and fast pace. Both the men’s and women’s tournament will feature eight national teams each, divided into two four-team groups. The best teams will appear in Tarnow, including the world champions Croatia (men) and Germany (women).

Croatians will open the men’s competition, and their first rival will be Germany (Tuesday, June 20 at 11:00 am). The world’s best team will also face Hungary and Portugal. Among women, Germany – gold medalists of the last World Cup and European Champions – will face Greece, Portugal and the Netherlands. Thus, in the last clash of the group stage there will be a repeat of the final from the European Championships, which last year were played in Nazare, Portugal.

Interestingly, after the group stage, none of the teams will automatically say goodbye to the tournament. Still on June 21 the games will enter the play-off phase, where in the quarterfinals – identically in the case of the men’s and women’s competition – the best team of Group A will face the weakest team of Group B. The second team of Group A and the third team of Group B will also face each other, as well as the second team of Group B and the third team of Group B, respectively.

The winners will advance to the semifinals, while the losers will fight in a separate ladder for places 5-8. The final of the men’s competition is scheduled for Thursday, June 22, at 8:30 p.m. An hour later, the women will take to the field in the battle for the gold medal.
