On January 10, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Minister Kamil Bortniczuk met with President of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Spyros Kapralos, Chairman of the Coordinating Commission for the III European Games Hasan Arat, and President of the Polish Olympic Committee Andrzej Kraśnicki.

The talks concerned the status of preparations for the III European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023, which will be held from June 21 to July 2 in Kraków and other cities in southern Poland.

On the same day, the New Year’s Meeting of the Olympic Family was held in Warsaw, and the Games were also discussed there. The event was hosted by the President of the Polish Olympic Committee, member of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees Andrzej Kraśnicki, and guests, including Polish President Andrzej Duda, and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda.

The event was also attended by representatives of the EOC, and the European Games Organising Committee was represented by President Marcin Nowak and Vice President Janusz Kozioł. Among the guests was also the Marshal of the Małopolska Region, Witold Kozłowski.

During his speech, Andrzej Duda mentioned the upcoming European Games. “I wish all those in a Polish sports arena, not only the athletes, success in 2023. There are many events ahead, including the biggest one, the European Games. I hope that Polish athletes will achieve a lot of success there, win many medals, and qualify for the next Olympic Games in Paris,” said Polish President Andrzej Duda.

The III European Games will be the first to be held on European Union territory. Russia and Belarus have been excluded from the Games due to the ongoing violent attack on independent Ukraine.
