It’s going to be another year with the eagle on my heart,” enthuses Dariusz Popiela, who performed brilliantly during the weekend’s Krakow Slalom – 2nd Stefan Kapłaniak Memorial. The competition was another stage of preparation for the European Games Krakow – Małopolska 2023.

There are many indications that one of the most experienced Polish representatives at the European Games will be 37-year-old Dariusz Popiela. The multiple Polish champion in K1 was first and second during the weekend’s competition, making him once again part of the national team.

“The slalom canoeing competition at the Olympic Games will be held from 29 June to 2 July, and all competitions will take place on the track at the Kolna Sports Centre.

“The track will now undergo a cosmetic upgrade before the European Games, and hopefully without changing the figures, as we have been swimming on this setup for months. I’m counting on the home track to be in our favour and I’m looking forward to representing the country at these competitions,” stresses Popiela.

The Polish Canoe Federation reports that in the K-1 competition, apart from Popiela, the senior team includes Michał Pasiut and Mateusz Polaczyk. In turn, in the same category among women, Klaudia Zwolińska, Dominika Brzeska and Natalia Pacierpnik received appointments.
